Consulting & advisory
Systems design and architecture, AI implementation, integrations, internal tools, automation, technical audits, vendor and platform decisions, modernization, and hands-on delivery.
For growing businesses, that can mean replacing manual work, connecting fragmented systems, choosing what to build or buy, reducing unnecessary complexity, or getting an important technical project into production.

Wild Thyme Studios is a technology and creative practice located in the Hudson Valley. We work directly with organizations when the problem is specific to them, we have begun commercializing some of our experience through standalone products, and we keep a workshop running for experiments and prototypes that are not client work or commercial products yet.
Across all of it, the work starts the same way: understand what is going on before deciding what to build, buy, automate, change, or leave alone. What we make is scoped around a clear problem and built to leave the business with more ownership and less dependency.
For early technical decisions that are expensive to reverse: architecture, platform direction, AI feasibility, vendor oversight, and build strategy.
For businesses losing time or money to manual work, disconnected tools, vendor problems, or systems no one fully owns. That includes restaurants, contractors, farms, retailers, professional services, and other growing businesses when technology is part of the problem.
For teams that want AI to improve quality and throughput without creating chaos, sloppy output, or dependency on tools no one inside the business understands.

AI made building easy.
Judgment is still hard.
Intuition is still human.
How technology is built and used is changing quickly. Clear thinking, discernment, and experience matter more than ever. Wild Thyme Studios was shaped by a long arc of work across healthcare, publishing, media, and enterprise technology.
Past roles and engagements

Essays and field notes on AI, systems, technical judgment, business ownership, and building technology without surrendering the business to it.

Wild Thyme Studios is led by Paul Kist, a systems architect and technical leader with nearly 30 years across healthcare technology, enterprise software, startups, publishing, and marketing technology.
He was an engineering lead at Amazon Health and One Medical, and part of the founding team at Traackr. His client and engagement history includes JP Morgan Chase, The New York Times, CNN Money, The Limited, and the St. Petersburg Times.
His current work concentrates on technical judgment at the points where it is hardest to get right: early architecture, AI feasibility, scope and risk assessment, and the engineering calls that separate systems that compound value from systems that compound cost.
